Escaped Tattnall County jail inmate Chad Dasher has finally been arrested after having been on the run since January. Tattnall County authorities caught him after he jumped into a pond. He had been on the run and is wanted on various burglary charges across several states. Chris Mock, a 17-year-old junior at Tattnall County High School, was taken by Lifestar to Savannah after being hit by a vehicle on Sunday evening, April 13. Several chicken house were badly damaged last week when strong winds ripped through the county. Four of six chicken houses owned by Dennis and Glenda Durrence, were hit. County Commission Chairman Frank Murphy will soon have a new job title. The Tattnall County community came together over the weekend to celebrate the life of Micah Smiley, who recently passed away at age 7 of lymphoma. The Family Fun Day was the second annual event to raise money for the Smiley family, with this year raising a whopping $10,595.13!! Collins Middle School student Janelene Sanders is the winner of the Tattnall County Spelling Bee! Janelene is a seventh grader. She won the Spelling Bee with the word, “dawdle”. She will now travel to district competition March 1 in Waycross. The Lady Warriors’ basketball team lost their first round of State playoffs by falling to Dodge County in a close one, 73-71.
