Chad Dasher is back in the news. The repeat-escape inmate from Tattnall County came close to another escape … this time from a jail in Appling County. Dasher injured a female guard and scaled the razor-wire fence for about 30 minutes worth of freedom before being captured again. Mason “Mohawk” Smith broke another world record over the weekend at the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K in Savannah, and this time, it was his OWN world record that he previously held. Reidsville resident Sabrina Manning, 37, died Friday, October 3, after being stabbed multiple times by Kelvin Carter, 49, of Reidsville. The 11th annual Wiregrass Festival was held over the weekend on Saturday in Reidsville. The day turned out to be a great one although gray skies were threatening rain in the beginning. The parade and festival were well attended and everyone enjoyed the afternoon. The City of Glennville was recently awarded a $500,000 CDBG grant that they plan to use for sewer improvements. A total of 82 awards totaling over $39.7 million were presented to cities and counties around the state.
