Reidsville resident Barbara Polke is facing murder charges in last week’s death of Ashley Sharpe. Polke was the driver of the vehicle and Sharpe had been the passenger, when Polke said a man had approached the vehicle and fired two shots at them, with one of them hitting Sharpe in the head. Polke is being held without bond. In addition, Catherine Sharpe Lee was arrested on four counts of giving false statements during the investigation. Reidsville resident Ashley D. Sharpe, 29, was shot in Lyons last Friday afternoon. Sharpe and another woman, Barbara A. Polke, were in a vehicle when the shooting was said to have occurred. The incident is under investigation. A Toombs County 5-year-old, Rodney Lozano, was killed in a vehicle accident. The vehicle had several minor children in it and was being driven by a 14-year-old. Four people were arrested on drug charges on July 3 at the Cheerio Inn in Glennville. Part of that included the operations of a meth lab in one of the hotel rooms. The Tattnall County fireworks show was held on the evening of July 4th at TCHS. Three individuals had slight cuts and abrasions when three six-inch shells (launching charges) exploded in launching tubes during the grand finale of the event. Greg Mulling of Collins died in a one vehicle crash on June 17 after being ejected from his truck, which flipped off of Lynntown Road. A 23-month-old little girl, Serenity Waller, drowned in a pond on Friday, June 13 in the Sand Hill community just inside Long County. Memorial Day was Monday, May 26, and the annual ceremony was held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
