This week’s front page leads off with a congratulations to Reidsville Harveys Assistant Store Manager Art Holmes. He was honored as the store-wide Harveys Assistant Manager of the Year at the recent convention.
Tattnall County High School Principal Glenn Stewart was injured after falling from the roof of his house. He underwent surgery where he had to have a rod and eight screws put in his back, as well as nerves reattached.
The Glennville Dairy Queen is gearing up for the annual fundraiser drive for the Children’s Miracle Network. This year’s goal for the Glennville restaurant is $20,013. The Miracle Treat Day will be August 8, 2013.
The Friends of Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park secured a $2,500 grant for updates to the park and will be using it for various items including shrubs and flowers at the entrance, purchase of new swings for the playground, lake area, cottages and campground, providing new mulch for the playground area and purchase of animal displays for the park office.
The VFW members are planning a spectacular display of American flags on the Courthouse square for the Fourth of July. In addition, a short program will take place the morning of July 4 at the Veterans Memorial Park in Reidsville at 10 a.m.
And speaking of July 4, the county-wide fireworks celebration will be held at Tattnall County High School on the evening of July 4th. Gates open at 6 p.m. and admission is $5 per vehicle.
