The December 13 paper leads off with an article on Kenny Murphy, a TCHS 2012 graduate who is now a freshman at Valdosta State University. Murphy is part of VSU’s football team and will be playing in the National Championship game December 15 in Alabama.
Mason Smith of Collins, the 9-year-old runner, has broken yet another racing record. This time it was in the “Run in the ‘Boro” on December 7th.
The Reidsville IGA is opening Monday, December 17 and Tom Jones, the new owner, was at the Reidsville City Council meeting to discuss the new store. Finally, the T-SPLOST begins in January. This is a new one percent sales tax that will be used for regional transportation projects. Yes, in January it’ll be 8 percent sales tax at the stores in Tattnall County (and throughout all of Region 12, which includes 17 counties).
