Although they had a loss the first week, the Tattnall County Warriors came back last Friday night with a 35-0 win over visiting team Portal. The Warriors dominated the entire game, even giving the younger players a chance on the field.  This coming Friday, Sept. 21, they will be on the road to take on Statesboro.

Also on the front page, Tattnall County Family Connections was awarded a $125,000 grant to help address the needs of Hispanic students. The grant was acquired in July of 2012 and will be available in segments over the next three years.

Members of the VFW 7764 and Woodmen of the World presented 9-11 Flags of Honor to county offices in Reidsville, which were flown on Tuesday, September 11th.

Glennville’s Dairy Queen was recognized as having the largest fundraising drive for the Children’s Miracle Network this past July. They were the top in the state of Georgia and the second highest in the nation!

Pineland State Bank has announced that it will be closing its bank branch in Cobbtown, GA, and customers will now be transferred to the bank in Metter.

Tattnall County recognized two Road Department employees on their retirements … Charlie Edwards retired with 39.5 years and Harold Pye retired with 12 years and two months. Each was presented a resolution and a plaque from the county.
