In this week’s paper, we have a follow-up to a story involving the house fire and the home’s resident, Annie Will Joyce. We had done a story on Glenda Durrence who helped to pull Annie Will Joyce from the house, but at the time, the identities of other folks on the scene wasn’t known. Now, this story gives accolades to Tim Morgan, Bobbie Denton and Agnes Jackson. It was a team effort to save Mrs. Joyce!
Also on the front page, Tattnall County School System was honored with the Environmental Excellence Award for the work done at the schools in regards to energy conservation. TCHS student and softball player, Katie Collins, was selected to participate in the Georgia Dugout Club Elite 80 Showcase this past July. And, we re-printed a story originally written by Dal Cannady of WTOC-TV in Savannah regarding a militia plot involving Ft. Stewart soldiers and others.
Be sure to check out the inside of the paper this week, too! We have photos, schedules and rosters for the sports teams at Tattnall County High School and Pinewood Christian Academy as we get ready to kick off the 2012 season of football coverage this week! Pinewood plays their first game on Thursday, August 30 against Robert Toombs Christian in Lyons and Tattnall will host the Claxton Tigers at home on Friday, August 31. We’re all ready for some football!
