This week’s front page leads off with a highly successful fundraiser sponsored by HK and Strickland Farms. Together they raised $3,000 that will be donated to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Tattnall C.A.R.E.S. Also on the front page is an article about Paddle Georgia 2012. This weekend, approximately 350 paddlers will be leaving from Tattnall County on a week-long 105-mile canoe/kayak adventure on Southeast Georgia’s Altamaha River. You may see signs throughout the county this week welcoming “Paddle Georgia 2012″ to Tattnall!

The only candidate who announced their intentions for the July 31 Primary Election this week was Marilyn Dasher Carter who is running for the Tattnall County Board of Education, District Three seat.

Obituaries this week:
Geraldine Dees Boyett, 75
Elizabeth “Bessie” P. Dasher, 98
Marquette Durrence, 81
Virginia Armstrong Durrence
