There were a multitude of honors and recognitions on the front page this week. Mark Thompson was named Reidsville’s Rotarian of the Year and Mercedes Saenz was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. In the Glennville Lions Club, Dennis Strickland was honored as Citizen of the Year and Lisa C. Trim was named Lion of the Year. In the Glennville Rotary Club, Brent Walker Sr. was named the Rotarian of the Year.

The UGA Extension Office in Glennville held a ribbon cutting at their newly opened office. The new office also houses the Southeastern Technical College Adult Learning Center and is located on the same square with Onshore Outsourcing, Inc. (formerly SE Technical College) near the Glennville City Auditorium.

The annual Fourth of July Fireworks, sponsored by the Reidsville, Glennville, Cobbtown, Collins and Jan Powell Prison Fire Departments, will be held at Tattnall County High School on July 4. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5 per car. Refreshments will be sold by the fire departments.
