A high speed chase ran through Tattnall and Toombs counties on Monday, May 9. Two men were finally arrested in the incident, Mario Edward Byrd and Gwain Durden.
District Attorney Tom Durden was recently honored for his 30 years of service to the State of Georgia.
Emma Bacon, local country artist, as been nominated for a GA Music Award in the Youth Country Category. Voting is now open through June 2, 2014. Votes can be cast online at http://www.gamusicawards.com/
Jane Glisson Grinstead, formerly of Tattnall County, was named the 2014 Brewton-Parker College Alumni of the Year.
And Glennville held their annual cake raffle and cookout at the Welcome Center on May 8. A large crowd came out to take part in the festivities.
Advance/Early voting began April 28, 2014, and will end May 16, 2014, at the Tattnall County Elections Office located at 114 W. Brazell St., Reidsville, GA. Votes may be cast Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Advance/Early voting will be held May 12, 2014, to May 16, 2014, at satellite offices at the Cobbtown City Hall, 36519B, Cobbtown, GA, and the Southeastern Technical College at 211 S. Tillman St., Glennville, GA, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday voting will be held on May 10, 2014, at the Tattnall County Elections Office from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Absentee ballot applications are now being accepted. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Friday, May 16, 2014, at 4:00 p.m.
The Federal Primary and Non-Partisan General Election will be conduced May 20, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. All election day polling sites will be open as usual for Collins, Cobbtown, Manassas, Birdford, Tison, Reidsville and Glennville. The runoff date, if needed, will be July 22, 2014.
