Several chicken house were badly damaged last week when strong winds ripped through the county. Four of six chicken houses owned by Dennis and Glenda Durrence, were hit.
County Commission Chairman Frank Murphy will soon have a new job title. He was appointed as County Manager, to begin May 1, to fill the seat that will be vacated this summer by Faye Hussey, who is retiring. Mr. Murphy will step down on May 1, 2014, as Chairman of the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners. District Two Commissioner Daniel Shuman, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Board, will temporarily hold that position until a new chairman can be elected at the regularly scheduled November election.
Tattnall County honored Reidsville’s Dr. Sang Oh with a reception April 6 at the Reidsville Garden Club in honor of his 40 years of service to the local citizens. Dr. Oh was surrounded by his family, many friends, business and community leaders and colleagues.
Although it was a rainy day on Sunday, April 6, the Art Show held at the Tattnall County Courthouse was well attended. Several local artisans were on hand to display their works and offer them for sale. One of the highlights of the day was a 2:00 p.m. reading in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room on the 2nd floor by Author Kenny Mitchell who is presently working on his 4th book in the “Loves Me Not” series which deals with issues of domestic abuse and violence.
