This week’s front page leads off with Dry Branch Farms earning the Grower of the Year award from the Vidalia Onion Committee. Also honored at the banquet was Barbara Braddy of Braddy Farms who was bestowed the Vidalia Ambassador Award.

Kathleen Shuman, a senior at Tattnall County High School, recently won the Rotary Club Speech Contest held at St. Simons Island. As the first place winner, she earned a $1,000 scholarship.

FCCLA at Tattnall County High School recently won several GOLD medals and students will be competing at nationals coming up in San Antonio.

Harley Strickland will be representing East Georgia College at the Miss Georgia Pageant this summer. She chose Ava Johnson, daughter of Brandon and Ashlea Johnson, as her Princess for the pageant festivities.

And gunshot in Reidsville on Sunday resulted in a neck wound to Whitney Williams of Ohoopee Street. She was treated at Optim in Reidsville and airlifted to Memorial in Savannah. No one has been arrested yet in the incident.
