The Tattnall County community came together over the weekend to celebrate the life of Micah Smiley, who recently passed away at age 7 of lymphoma. The Family Fun Day was the second annual event to raise money for the Smiley family, with this year raising a whopping $10,595.13!! Lots of activities were held on Saturday at Tattnall County High School, including a flag football tournament and kiss-a-pig contest.
Chad Dasher, of Glennville, is still on the run and authorities have recently tracked him from Texas, to Alabama, Georgia, and just this week back to his hometown in Glennville. Dasher escaped the Tattnall County Jail on January 24, 2014, and has been on the run ever since. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Dasher’s arrest. Any information pertaining to Dasher should be relayed to the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office at 912-557-6777 or the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102. Three Tattnall County High School seniors signed Letters of Intent this week. Taivon Butler signed with Paine College to play football and twin sisters, Valerie and Victoria Clower, both signed softball scholarships with Wesleyan College.
The Reidsville Boys 7-8 year-old baskeball all-star team won the District 1 Region Championship and will now compete in the State Tournament this Friday, March 7.
And Senator Jack Hill has qualified for his 13th term in office.
Remember this weekend to set your clocks ahead one hour before bed on Saturday night. Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 9.
