The Tattnall County Lady Warriors’ basketball team placed third in Region 1AAA and will have their first round in the State Playoffs this Friday, February 21 in Eastman, GA, as they face Dodge County at 6 p.m.
Several honors were recognized at TCHS recently. Chris Freeman Jr., 16, was bestowed the 2014 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award. And, ladies representing TCHS as Governor’s Honors nominees include: Katie Kennedy, Megan Oliver, Stella Oliver and Emily Tripp.
The Miracles for Micah event is coming up March 1 to help the Smiley family with medical expenses over the past year as they just recently lost their 7-year-old son to cancer. Part of the fundraising events include a “Kiss a Pig” contest. Eleven volunteers from throughout the county are up for the task and the one with the most donations gets to pucker up on March 1.
The Evans County J.O.A.D. Team (Archery) participated in State Championships over the weekend and three placed with awards. Todd Edgar, of Cobbtown, was among them. The other two included Cassandra Pelton and Sarah Thomas.
Escaped inmate Raymond Smith was arrested in Texas and Chad Dasher is believed to be in the Texas area as well, although, it was reported, he recently stole a vehicle in that area. The vehicle is a 1999 silver Chevrolet Suburban with license plate number 94XJS5. Any information pertaining to escapee Chad Dasher should be relayed to the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office at office number 912-557-6777 and the United States Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102. Tips can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. All information is confidential. A $2,500.00 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of this fugitive.
